Cambodia in Its International Context – Sunday, 19.9.2010

The Mirror, Vol. 14, No. 682

During the past week The Mirror had references to Cambodian tourism, and also relating to dark periods of the recent past histories of Germany and of Cambodia – in both cases about international relations. During the next two or three weeks, while I will be still in Germany, I will probably more often share some reflections relating to Cambodia in an international context. This is always an important aspect, but I may have more observations to share than when I am in Phnom Penh.

To receive comments is always appreciated. A comment was now received from New Zealand to our “Dealing with the Past” from Friday, 17.9.2010; it was a big encouragement. The Comment links back to resources for teachers: “TeacherEducation – Our aim is to provide quality courses for teachers and teacher aides at an affordable cost to schools and centers, thus making your professional development our business.” It says: “I’ve been hunting for something like this most of the day today. I really wish that people would write more about this.” We really wish the same.

The Internet allows really easily to build new communication links – over linguistic and cultural borders; also over national borders – but some powers do not like this kind of freedom to communicate.

Just now this message came in:

“Hoder has been sentenced to execution, according to this website (Farsi) http://bit.ly/b25JuE”

Wikipedia has the following information: “Hossein Derakhshan (Persian: حسين درخشان; born January 7, 1975), also known as Holder, is an Iranian blogger. He is credited with starting the blogging revolution in Iran and is called the father of Persian blogging by many journalists.”

.

Please recommend The Mirror also to your colleagues and friends.

I have seen many useful issues on your site Cambodia in Its International Context – Sunday, 19.9.2010 about computer systems. However, I have the judgment that notebooks are still not quite powerful more than enough to be a good choice if you frequently do projects that require a great deal of power, just like video editing. But for web surfing, word processing, and a lot other popular computer functions they are okay, provided you never mind the screen size. Thanks for sharing your opinions.
