Saturday, 14.7.2007: Fruit of Samdech Hun Sen’s Visit to Japan: Japanese Delegation of State and Private Companies Will Visit Cambodia

“Phnom Penh: According to a press release of the Japanese Embassy in the Kingdom of Cambodia on 13 July, a delegation of state and private companies of Japan will come to visit Cambodia from 16 to 20 July 2007 as a result of the signing of agreements on the liberalization, promotion, and protection of investments between Japan and Cambodia during Prime Minister Samdech Hun Sen’s visit to Japan in June 2007. The delegation, will be led by Mr. Yamamoto Kôzô, Deputy Minister of Economy, Trade and Industry of Japan, accompanied by a number of officials of the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry, and 30 businesspeople from Japanese companies.

“During the visit from 17 to 18 July 2007, Mr. Yamamoto will meet with Prime Minister Samdech Hun Sen and other leaders of the Kingdom of Cambodia. The delegation will visit Sihanoukville Port on 19 July 2007.

“The plan of the visit of the Japanese delegation of state and private companies to Cambodia includes, besides meeting with Samdech Prime Minister, also to meet with Mr. Keat Chhon, Senior Minister and Minister of Economy and Finance on 17 July. On 18 July the delegation will meet with Mr. Sok An, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of the Council of Ministers, and with Mr. Suy Sem, Minister of Industry, Mines, and Energy, and also with Mr. Kim Sithan, the Acting Minister of Commerce.

“On 19 July 2007, the delegation will also meet with Mr. Lou Kim Chhon, the Director-General of the Sihanoukville Privatized Port Administration. The delegation’s plan includes also a visit to Siem Reap on 20 July, the final day of the visit.

“Such a visit has never taken place before, that such a group of investors especially from Japan came to visit. It is a result of the recent visit to Japan by the head of the Royal Government of Cambodia.” Koh Santepheap, Vol.40, #6091, 14-15.7.2007
