“Mr. Suy Sem, the Minister of Industry and the representative China Heavy Machinery Corporation signed a memorandum of understanding for the study on 18 January 2007 with the participation of representatives of Chinese Embassy in Cambodia.

“According to a press release of the Ministry of Industry, the new project for a hydroelectric plant is located in Stung Ta Tai, Thma Bang, Koh Kong. It is one of the priority projects in Cambodia, and it is the project that the Ministry of Industry included in its 2005-2024 Electricity Development Plan. According to the press release the study and the evaluation by experts says that for the first step, the hydroelectric plant in Stung Ta Tai can have a capacity of up to 80 MW, and it can produce electricity of 416 MWh per year.
