The Mirror, Vol. 12, No. 590
Greetings from Korea where I am attending a workshop, and I am also trying to gather some more information about the situation of immigrants from different countries of Asia, especially from Cambodia.
Apologies for the delays – I hope after two more days things should be normalized.
But I would like to share some impressions.
When I saw some of the advertisements in Cambodian newspapers about new huge construction projects in Cambodia – planned with Korean business interests, I thought some are completely out of context, like the 42 stories Double Golden Tower – already in its initial stages under construction.

After seeing Seoul again, I still think some of the plans for Phnom Penh are misplaced, first of all in terms of the economic environment. But seeing the high rise buildings everywhere in Seoul, I start to understand that there is a lot of technical experience and expertize in Korea, which has brought tremendous changes to Korea – but the transplantation of these experiences to Phnom Penh still seems to be almost too much to bear. We will see what the future brings.

I hope to deliver the Monday edition of the Mirror in a couple of hours – and the Tuesday edition during Wednesday morning – Korea time zone.
