The Mirror, Vol. 11, No. 540

“Phnom Penh: Samdech Akak Moha Senapadei Dekchor Hun Sen condemned the suicide attack which killed the former Pakistani Prime Minister Ms. Benazir Bhutto on the evening of 27 December at Liaqut Bagh park.

“In a short press conference in Phnom Penh on 28 December, after accompanying the King to inaugurate Kantha Bopha Hospital 5, Samdech Prime Minister said that the people and the Royal Government of Cambodia condemn terrorism and call for all means in order to bring the terrorists to be punished. Samdech Dekchor stated that we call for all parties of Pakistan to be patient and not to use violence against the efforts to find solutions for all issues.

“According to a source from abroad, many witnesses who saw the event at the place described a sniper who opened gunfire at Ms. Bhutto and her supporters, and at least one bullet hit Ms. Bhutto in her neck and another bullet hit her in her chest, before he exploded the suicide bomb.

“Samdech Prime Minister said that the issues of Pakistan are serious, and the international community should condemn this violent act.

“In October, a suicide attack had been targeted at Ms. Benazir Bhutto in Karachi after she had returned from exile to Pakistan, which killed and wounded tens of people, but at that time Ms. Bhutto was not hurt.

“Samdech Hun Sen said that we offer our condolences to her husband as well as to the families of all victims.” Kampuchea Thmey, Vol.7, #1531, 29.12.2007
